“Everything is in Perfect Order”

I have lost count of the times that my team in spirit, Symphony, has spoken these words to me. In fact, there has been more than one occasion that I have reached out in frustration to ask a ‘why’ question, only to roll my eyes with a smile as I  reiterate the words I know I’m likely to  hear in response. Everything is in perfect order. But what exactly does this phrase mean, and why is it considered so beneficial in understanding our journey through life? My reflections on Symphony’s insights have led me to a deeper appreciation of this concept.

The notion that ‘everything is in perfect order’ is frequently encountered within spiritual and philosophical realms. It suggests that all life events, including those that challenge us or seem negative, are unfolding precisely as they should, in alignment with a greater, universal plan. This belief is rooted in the idea that there is a deeper significance to our experiences, a significance that might not be immediately evident.

Understanding this concept unfolds in various layers. At its core is the belief in a universal order – a conviction that the universe operates under a set of laws or principles ensuring that everything occurs for a reason. This is echoed in many spiritual and religious teachings, which propose that a divine or cosmic intelligence is at work, orchestrating events for a higher purpose.

From a personal growth perspective, ‘everything is in perfect order’ can be seen as framing challenges and difficulties as opportunities for development. It implies that the hurdles we face are actually guiding us, teaching us valuable lessons, and helping us to grow stronger and to realize our potential. This perspective promotes acceptance and trust, urging us to embrace life as it unfolds and to believe that, in the grand scheme, things are aligning for our ultimate benefit, even if the reasons are not immediately clear.

The phrase also reflects a belief in the interconnectedness of all things. Every event, action, or experience is part of a complex web of life, with everything influencing everything else in some way, contributing to a larger, harmonious whole. On a practical level, it serves as a reminder to remain present and mindful, suggesting that by accepting the present moment as perfect, we can find peace and clarity instead of becoming entangled in worries about what should or shouldn’t be happening.

When Symphony tells me ‘everything is in perfect order’ during challenging times, it is an encouragement to adopt a broader, more spiritual viewpoint. This perspective asserts that life’s challenges are not random or meaningless but have a specific place within the grand scheme – contributing to personal growth, learning, or fulfilling one’s destiny or spiritual path. It’s a reassurance that despite the apparent chaos or discomfort, there is an underlying order and purpose to life’s events that we may not immediately grasp.

Furthermore, embracing the concept of ‘everything is in perfect order’ does not mean negating the impact of our choices, including the possibility of making poor ones. Instead, it integrates these choices into the broader narrative of a meaningful and purposeful universe. This integration allows for a dynamic between our personal choices and a larger, possibly predetermined plan or destiny. Our decisions shape our path, but within a universe that guides or responds to these choices in a meaningful way. Every choice, good or bad, is seen as part of our learning journey, offering opportunities for growth, learning, and self-reflection.

In essence, the message that ‘everything is in perfect order’ is a profound one. It does not dismiss our actions and their consequences but views them as integral components of a larger, meaningful process. It’s a reminder that, in the vast tapestry of life, each thread – each decision, action, and consequence – contributes to the creation of a perfectly ordered universe.
